And, it's been awhile since I've had anything done to my hair professionally, so I'm not sure what they expect now as far as a tip goes. Are tips dependent on actual service received? Do you give a tip based on your own customer satisfaction or is there a specific percentage given? In the past, I've given five dollars tip to the stylist regardless of the total. Sometimes that would be five dollars for a $15.00 treatment and sometimes it would be the same amount even if the total were more. But thinking about it now, perhaps I should give a percentage. How much do you tip the stylist when you get a big ticket item like hair color treatment? Is it the same amount when you get your hair trimmed? Would love some suggestions. Thanks!
| | The rich get richer! | | Why? Because they don't spend their money! That's what I have heard! My brother is one of them. They are very wealthy but stick by a monthly budget that is very stringent. The pay off is that they have extra money for traveling and entertaining which are two things they love to do. One of the ways they save money is my brother colors my sister in laws hair! Yup! They do it at home! I have done my hair with over the counter dyes too but was really surprised when I found out that my very own brother....who I would have never guessed, acutally does the coloring! Do you color your own hair or have someone who helps you with the process? Does it help stretch your budget? | |
| | Oblivious friends . . . my stupid petty vent for the day . . . | | So on occasion, I've mentioned on myLot my friend whom her own husband even says she needs to be hit on the head with a bat in order to "get" things. She's overworked, under nourished, a zombie on caffeine, flakey, inconveniences people without knowing that she does it, misses out on enjoying life due to all these things . . . sigh. Anyway, I finally got my hair cut over the weekend - something I haven't done in a long time. It was almost butt length, but now it's pretty short . . . and my husband who is not a professional hair cutter did it for me (upon my request, don't worry - he did a great job!). I've gotten a lot of compliments thus far this week on it . . . everywhere I go where people know me, everyone had made mention of me getting a hair cut. Even my inlaws complimented me which is unheard of. In other words, it was pretty drastic, even other moms in my daughter's class whom I don't to speak much came up to me to say something. The friend I mentioned above came to visit us yesterday (in which scheduling with her to do so is another story). SHE DIDN'T NOTICE MY HAIRCUT!! Ok, I know that's so petty of me - I'm not really mad - but is she THAT blind? Not that I... | |
| | Wrapping hair in towel healthy? | | Hello mylot. I am wondering if wrapping one's hair in a towel after the shower and after putting hair conditioner in it can keep the hair healthy. I have heard somewhere that a little bit of heat is good for the hair. Yet I am not a professional hair dresser, so I do not really know. I picture the ladies sitting under the hair dryers all the time. YEt I do not do that, as my hair is a more fragile in my 30 plus years. The way I try to get heat to my hair is the natural way, by simply wrapping a towel around my head after the shower. Is this healthy? | |
| | This is related to my other discussion about my hair dying issue. | | I heard a long time ago about some kind of product, maybe some sort of oil or cream. I don't know, but I guess that it is supposed to help hair dye stay in longer. Does anyone know anything about this? I've tried looking for something like this, but since I have absolutely what it's called, I don't really even know where to begin to look. The person who told me said that she got it from some professional hair place and she said it was quite pricy, but at this point I'm willing to risk it. Thank you fellow mylottians. | |
| | Why do many woman cut their hair short after getting married? | | My mother had very long hair in the pictures I've seen of her when she was younger and dating my father but ever since I can remember she has had short hair. I also watch alot of Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC) and Kate had really long pretty hair and now she has short hair. Jon was even shown saying he would like her to have the same long hair that he 'met her with' because that was one of things he like most about her. I do feel like even our hair can suit our mood and have been known to chop my hair off when I'm going through a hard time and fed up with men. Thankfully I went to a professional hair salon and got a halle berry cut and I like it alot but.........Men hated it!! (What did you do to your hair???) | |
| | What sort of blow dryer do you have? | | I was thinking of buying a new blow dryer recently, since mine gave out.
Well, actually, the plug melted a bit because here in this motel, the electrical outlets are a bit testy and untrustworthy.
I want to buy a really nice professional hair dryer for my long lovely red locks, but you know they are a bit on the pricey side.
What sort of blow dryer do you have or do you suggest for me to get, on the days when I am not standing by the sea to dry my hair?
| | How do you solve thin hair? | | I have a thin hair like newborns and rare. I'm desperately looking for a safe way to let my hair grow thicker and more. I'm afraid I'll lose my hair especially after giving birth to my first baby.
My friends once told me that hair tonic might help but it will damage the hair roots after a long period usage.
My salary can't afford me to go to a professional hair expert and usually such hair treatment is expensive (even traditional way).
Any suggestion what to do?
| | I went to get my Haircut and I Got more than That!! | | I got sick. Very sick. The girl that cut my hair had a bad cold and cough and was sneezing and coughing over me the whole time she cut my hair. Man I just wanted to walk out but she was like half done with my hair, which btw she did a horrible job. What would have you done in this situation? Oh that was at a haircut place in walmart about 3 years ago. I now go to a professional hair salon. Just to claify with my last post. | |
